Nkana mourn death of coach Masauso Mwale

Zambian football is mourning the death of Nkana head coach Masauso Mwale who died in a car accident on Friday.

Mwale was driving along the Kitwe-Ndola dual carriageway, to join up with his team ahead of their African Confederation Cup match against Ivory Coast’s Sewe San Pedro in Kitwe on Saturday.

He was 51 years of age.

Nkana decided to go ahead with Saturday’s Group B Confederation Cup match against Sewe.

A minute of silence will be held in memory of coach Mwale before kick-off, and the players will wear black armbands.

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) President, Issa Hayatou, has expressed shock at the tragic news.

“The news was a shocker and very sad.

“On behalf of the Caf Executive Committee and the African football family, my condolences to the Football Association of Zambia (Faz), Nkana Football Club and the bereaved family. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult period,” Hayatou said in a statement.
