FA were right to ban me

Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse has admitted the Football Association were right to ban him for violent conduct.

The 29-year-old Senegal international escaped punishment from match officials for striking Everton’s Seamus Coleman in

Newcastle’s 3-2 win

on Sunday.

But the FA

took retrospective action

and he will miss matches against Burnley, Leicester and Chelsea.

“I would like to play the next games, but I did something that’s not good and the FA were right to ban me,” he said.

“It is not like me. I am not an aggressive player, but in football you cannot do something like this.”

Cisse, who scored his fifth goal in six league games in the victory over the Toffees, has now played his last game for Newcastle before heading to Equatorial Guinea for the African Nations Cup, which runs from 17 January-8 February.
