Abdoulie Touray resigns from the Commonwealth Games Federation

Abdoulie Touray pose with the Queen's Baton at the Australian High Commission in GhanaAbdoulie Baks Touray has resigned from his position in the Commonwealth Games Federation and has formally informed the Government of the Gambia who were the first to announce the Gambia’s withdrawal from the 71-nation organisation of mainly ex-British colonies.

In his letter to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr Touray says: “I write to formally inform you that I have formally resigned my position as Vice President for Africa of the Commonwealth Games Federation with immediate effect following the Executive Decision taken by the Government of the Gambia to withdraw its membership of the Commonwealth.”

Manneh becomes youngest MLS player to score hat-trickGambian striker Kekuta Manneh scored Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s first-ever hat-trick in Major League Soccer en route to a historic 4-1 victory over Seattle Sounders on Wednesday evening at CenturyLink Field.

Making just his fourth start this season, the 18-year-old Gambian scored twice in the first half and added an insurance marker in the 59th minute, becoming the youngest player in MLS history to score three goals in one match.
